Stay Cool This Summer with these refreshing recipes

From warding off the summer cold to getting energized without the jitters of coffee, there are many reasons to cool off with iced tea this summer. We have compiled some of our favorite recipes for your refreshment in the middle of summer.

Strawberry Sencha - delicious light green tea - this is good to make in the flash chill style and add fresh sliced strawberries.

Flash Chill method:

  1. Steep 1 tsp tea in infuser basket or paper tea filter per 5oz hot (but not boiling) water for 2.5 minutes.
  2. Pour hot tea over ice in a cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid.
  3. Shake for 10 seconds and pour into a glass full of ice.
  4. Garnish with sliced strawberries and add simple syrup if desired.

Speed Goat Chai - make as an iced latte, puts a pep in your step in the morning as it has energizing Yerba Maté in it.

Iced latte instructions:

  1. Steep 1 tablespoon of tea in infuser basket or paper tea filter in 4oz boiling water AND 4oz of hot milk of your choice for 6 minutes.
  2. Sweeten to taste.
  3. Pour over ice in cocktail shaker or mason jar with lid
  4. Shake for 10 seconds and pour into glass full of ice.

Meadowlark - great to make as a sun tea in a big glass jar, then add lots of sugar (think southern “sweet tea” served with lemon slices).

Sun tea directions:

  1. Start this recipe at about 9am, fill your 1 gallon container or jug 3/4 full with water and 4 tea bags filled with 1.5 tablespoons of Meadowlark tea in each tea bag.
  2. Let the tea sit in the sun for 4-6 hours, a prime full sun location is best. You can eye ball the tea, and bring it in, after the tea looks dark enough.
  3. When bringing the tea in, boil one cup of the brewed tea and add 1.5 cups of sugar or sweetener of your choice. In the summer, the heat from outside can be enough to dissolve the sugar. Boiling the cup of tea only helps to make dissolving the sugar easier.
  4. Add the dissolved sugar/tea mixture back to the big jug and top off with ice.
  5. Put jug into fridge to continue the cooling process.
  6. Serve over ice with lemon wedges or slices.
